A while back I asked the question about Berkley Micro Ice Braid. Answers came back both pros and cons. I went ahead and spooled up with the braid to try on Bear lake yesterday. One rod micro ice the other with mono. Yes it was cold.
Both rod tips froze up as expected but there was never a stiff line on either and no accumulation on the reels. booth performed the same.
I would not shy away from using micro ice when fishing through the ice.
As far as the fishing, look at Jeff's post about the Bear Lake foatila. What wasn't said was the Cut that almost didn't make it into my net. I tried three times before I was able to put him in. No fin clip so he was happy and so was I. No pics and no measurements. I'm guessing 26"
Coming home I see three fisher persons up on the south east portion of Mantua. I think they were nuts, that ice looked pretty sketchy to me.
