My 13 year old boy and I are planning a burbot fishing trip this Friday night (not part of the Burbot Bash just hoping to catch a new kind of fish.
I have heard that the Firehole area would be our best bet. Any opinions, or other ideas, as to what would be our best option would be appreciated. We do not have a 4 wheeler or a snowmobile. So we need to fish fairly close to an access point.

Right now, with the ice the way it is.
Find a rocky point with 15' to 25' of water.
Firehole has easy access and the ice in 25-28 inches.
I didn't do to hot their last weekend, but it might get better.

The one time I've fished at Firehole we didn't have a much luck. Since Firehole is one of the first spots to freeze, it seems like it gets hammered pretty hard early in the season. The DWR report is saying that the better Burbot fishing right now is in the middle portion of the reservoir.

My 16 year old son and I fished Anvil and Squaw Hollow areas over the weekend and did well in both locations. It wasn't fast catching but it kept us busy for a few hours each night. We also caught a couple pup lake trout. There is good access at the boat ramps at both locations.
