Got a late start today but went up to Bear lake to give it another try for the big one. Hit the west side weather was great fishing not so much. Talked to a couple guys that caught cisco on the east side they said ice was about 2" to 3" and the netted up a bunch of cisco and was on the west side to try and get a couple big ones due to the ice being better on the west side about 6". Well the just snagged a few cisco an whitefish no big trout and I stayed until dark and only caught 1 cutthroat that was about 13" so I let it go for another day even though it had a cut fin. The lake looked like it was trying to freeze over and had a light skim of ice on almost all of the utah side and the temp was 25 when I left.
I fished I. 30 feet and fished on the bottom but maybe I am doing it wrong but it was a great day to be out.
Maybe I will try Pineview next time so I can see how a pole bends.
The pup sure had fun in the sun a young fisherman came over and wore my dog out playing...

That sounds great!!! I really would love to get Cisco on the ice. Like to catch the big fish too but I bet they're getting stuffed full of Cisco and not too hungry anymore. Thanks for the great news. Later J

Heck no he is a great kid the puppy was worn out after playing with your boy.. after you left I missed 4 or 5 bites but never hooked up on anything I stayed just until dark.
It sure is good to run into folks like you when I go fishing.
I still think we might have been a little to deep.

That's the most expensive dog bed I have ever seen! lol
Your day sounds about like ours on Saturday. Although the guy next to us caught a fat 6lb 25" cutt...no cut fin though.

Funny you noticed that about the dog bed ya it's about $1000 worth of sitka gear under her but it did keep her warm lol. I keep trying bear lake as I really want to catch a monster cutthroat but I guess I have not been punished enough. Think I will hit Pineview tonight although I did see people out on willard in a good spot ice fishing.
