Waterproofing Ice Fishing Tent
#1
Does anyone have any good ideas on how to waterproof the inside of an ice fishing tent? I have an Eskimo tent and I noticed that when it rains or snows water drips inside from the top of the tent at the seams. It is pretty annoying when everyone inside is trying to stay dry. I thought about putting a plastic tarp on top but thought there may be a better way to keep water from dripping. I'm not sure if any plastic seal spray would work or if it would just peal off. Any ideas or experience with this issue is appreciated. Thanks

I'd go to a camping store and look for a seam sealer and a tent waterproofer for the out side to repel the water. Over time your factory waterproofing will weaken and not do its job as well or at all.

We spray our tents prior to each season with Kiwi Heavy Duty Water Repellent Camp Dry. Here's a picture of it. Works great.

another product that works well is Black Magic Wet Tire Shine from the autoparts store. It waterproofs tents something fierce and I use it to waterproof natural feather fletching on arrows for my recurves. I think it works WAY better than anything designed for tents and the like.

The drawbacks are that it causes the fabrics to retain a little more dust or dirt, and it needs to be dried nice and long after a heavy application, or it retains a strong smell. Set the tent up, spray it until wet and dry it in the sun several hours.
