Ice conditions updates?
#1
I know a lot of you love ice fishing but I'm ready for some soft water. It's the ice fishermen/women that know what the real conditions are. How about some updates on the ice? I really need to get the boat out

Willard bay, south marina yesterday afternoon. I checked yesterday. Open water is much bigger. Might be gone by weekend.

It is my understanding that Sulfer Creek, is still shore line accessible, with about 16 inches of ice.

If you are willing to drive a little there are a number of lakes down south that don't freeze at all. Lake Powell, Quail Creek, Sand Hollow. On a calm, warm day you could probably coax a few LMB into a strike or two during the afternoons.

If you don't want to head south, you're probably looking at another week or 10 days before some of the lower elevations lakes are negotiable with your gofast.

I thought about Sand Hollow but it just needs a couple more degrees to make it worth it. It looks like Willard opened up so it shouldn't be long.

There is a post on the Wyo board about Sulfer Creek, the edges don't look all that good. Slush and some water along shore line.

Bear Lake won't be long. There were areas of open water visible from the north end of the lake to Garden City and a spot just north of the state line that looked like either a huge crack had opened or somebody had taken their ice breaker through. What ice is left looked pretty rotten.

This was before the storm came through last night, it may be much more open today.

I think Hyrum and Mantua are in about the same condition or worse, things are getting very rotten out there so won't be long. Put my sleds away yesterday so I must be done. Later J

Flaming Gorge is still frozen solid from Sheep Creek to the North Pole. At this rate, it may be open by the 4th of July.
