I have been searching all over the internet for some updated ice conditions in my area and couldn't so I thought I would make an account on here to try to help some other people out.
We arrived to Huntington (Mammoth) at noon and went straight out from the boat ramp. The edges were solid but there is quite a bit of snow on top. Ice was 3+ feet but felt like drilling through all of it was just slush and water logged ice.
This lake can be pretty tricky to figure out sometimes, but once you do you can have a great day. We were set up in the tent in 22 FOW with the jaw jacker about 10 feet out. Deadsticking had no hits and the only time the jacker rod even had a bite was as soon as I picked it up to check the bait on it. We ended up landing 10-12, lost a handful, and missed as many as we caught. The biggest factor was electronics, without them im not sure we would have had a bite. Jigging aggressive until the marks came in, then slow bounces and rising is what worked for us but still had plenty of lookers that we couldn't make eat. All fish were tigers in the 15-17 inch range.
At 5 the bite totally shutoff so we packed up and left with the ice being in the same condition as we arrived. Also the holes outside of the tent were frozen over on the way out so if the weather stays the same I'm sure this weekend will still be fine.
I would recommend a shovel to clear all the snow off the top where you are going to fish. Also, there was one group on Cleveland. Good luck out there!
