PowerPro...whatcha targeting? Braid has no stretch unlike mono and comes in all strengths and diameter is smaller meaning more line on reel with a mono backing...very strike sensitive for us anyways...PowerPro is all we use...I'm sure others will provide comments on their preferred line...plus way less break offs matter-of-fact only break offs are result of having to cut braid when snagged...haven't lost a fish yet with PowePro...

I'm with K2 I like powerpro, I've got some of that nanofil and it casts nice, but I don't like its lack of longevity. Seems like it breaks down and reminds me of Teflon thread tape. I also like the braid pattern of powerpro it doesn't floss out like other braids. So it lasts a long time and is stiff so when you want to set that hook into the bass lip you can do it. I also use a rod with a lot of back bone and it helped me do better on hooking up. Later J

Its just my go to rod whether it be for bass, walleye, trout, or panfish. I was thinking of trying the p line fluoroclear or fluorocarbon. ive used fireline in the past with no problems other than replacing my leader on it was a pain sometimes getting the knots to not rip through.

I really like nanofil on spinning rode, but on my casters I use PowerPro. I agree with all the benefits touted by the other posters.
I add 10 feet of fluoro in matching pound test using uni-uni knots and have never had a problem with slippage. That's a longer leader than needed, but it allows me multiple re-ties before I have to replace the whole thing. [signature]

if your tossing soft plastics i prefer old school mono , otherwise power pro or spyderwire are the ticket ( w/ flouro leader)

Maybe ill have to give the braid another go with a 10' leader like you said. Ive never used the uni-uni knot before so ill have to learn how to tie that and maybe ill have better luck attaching my leaders. Thank you

Another awesome feature of PowerPro is NO MEMORY=NO LINE CURLS/TWISTS/TANGLES coming off the reel...

With you guys' power pro, are you running the slick 8 or just the standard?

There are dozens of TwoYube videos showing what claim to "the best" braid to mono/fluoro knots. Most of them are complex, hard to tie and bulky.
The Uni is nothing more than an overhand knot with multiple passes of the tag end. Make a loop, pass the tag end through from four to seven times, wet the knot and pull up slowly. That's it. To join braid to a leader, I use five turns with the leader material and seven turns with the thinner braid. Tie one uni and before you snug it up, pass the other line through the loop. With the first uni mostly snugged up, tie the other uni around the other line. Simple. Here's a pretty good vid: https://youtu.be/b4tpqaIvQbU [signature]

Fishing in Utah I don't use braid often. For my spinning reels I use Sunline FC Sniper in 8# test for most applications. I love that stuff.
I keep an eye out and buy it in bulk spools, it's a little spendy but worth it. [signature]

I don't have much experience with p line, and my flouro experience didn't turn out so well at Bear Lake last winter when a nice Mac stripped it out and broke it off. So like I say I'm a power pro fan. Later J

We use regular just make sure you use a mono backing we use 12# test as a backing... [signature]

So just out of curiousity, what made you guys go with power pro and not fireline or spiderwire?

Well for us gals and what we primarily fish for being Tiger Muskies...found PowerPro the line we like...haven't tried any others as we have been very pleased with its performance and durability. Additionally, as I've said in the past we are CHEAP=Cash Happy Economically Aware People so we will flip our line...haven't put new PowerPro on the reels for a couple years now. We have this line on our baitcasters for casting and also for trolling...we also have our Willard gear spooled with it...for us no need to experiment as we are pleased with our line choice. I would go with Power Pro and a leader of Seaguar Invizx.

I have used a lot of different braids and have been using the power pro slick 8 with floro leader and have really liked it. The best thing about the slick stuff is the way it goes through the guides. Now for the bad. I don't like it for big fish it digs into the spool really bad. On a big lake trout that is going to run 50 to 100 feet several times before you get him in the drag gets really hurky jerky which stinks then after a fish it is a pain to drop down again . I've been using 20 pound and like it enough I might try going much heavier to see if it doesn't cut into the spool as bad. It hasn't cost me any fish though and all braids do this to some degree. As for knot I like the modified albright, I have 100% faith in it then I tie a knot I call a Shaw Grigsby because if you youtube him and florocarbon he shows how to tie it. Those two knots can pull up and anchor! I love braided line! Oh ya I really like the hi vis for jigging. I catch lots of fish seeing the bite and never feeling it.
