STELLWAGEN BANK,MA-Cod Fishing 3/3/01<br><br>An open weather window on Friday and Saturday allowed<br>three of B-Fast’s vessels, JANET B, DECISIVE and ALLIE,<br>to fish Stellwagen’s shoal water prior to the March Blizzard.<br>Gerry Hydrusco’s group from Belle Mead, NJ fished as part<br>of a split-charter with Karl Cantillo’s group from Amityville,NY.<br>Capt. Scott found the "market" cod feeding on herring and<br>sandeels in 100-120 ft of water on the north end of the bank.<br>Jigs and teasers produced best yielding doubles of cod in the<br>8-12 pound class with a few pollock mixed in. On Saturday,<br>Capt. Al on the JANET B and Capt. Tim on the ALLIE guided<br>two groups Jersey anglers. Both Donny Ibarguen’s group from<br>Sayreville,NJ and Julio Vega’s group from Perth Amboy, NJ make<br>annual pilgrimages north for Massachusett’s codfish. With<br>coolers full to the max with cod filets as a result of their best <br>trip in years, both groups headed to the Garden State threating <br>to return in a few weeks. B-Fast Charters presently has five<br>vessels available in March and will have ten charter boats<br>between 31 and 42 feet working the bank starting in April.<br><br>Capt.
