I'm going to be in St. George next month, and I have no idea where to go. I really would like to go after some decent catfish, but I'm not familiar with the area at all. Any help would be appreciated.

No Catfish --- Maybe Gunlock Res. has a few !! Very good largemouth fishing at Quail Creek and Sand Hollow though. Beautiful area .

My only issue is it will be night fishing.

I think that catfish are now wanted/allowed in the Virgin River so not many waters around St. George will have Catfish in them.
This is one reason that the Community Ponds Washington County are not stocked with Catfish. [signature]

I believe you meant to say, "Not wanted/allowed in the Virgin River."
I have heard that night fishing for bass down there can be really productive especially when the power squad gets going. [signature]

sand hollow is good almost all year at night, for bass. If you really want catfish you'll have to drive an hour and half south to lake mead or over to powell i think. If you go to sand hollow take a headlight and walk carefully. Tons of rattle snakes around the shore when it warms up. Not a fun thing to encounter when you're walking at night.

I'm actually heading out on sand hollow during the day at the beginning of the trip. I'm really excited about heading there. Maybe I'll have to go give it a shot one night that week. I haven't fished for bass at night in years.

Fishing the Sand at night can be a lot of fun

If you're fishing at night at Sand Hollow then throw a 1/2 to 3/4 black spinnerbait with a large single Colorado blade. I have caught a ton of nice bass on the old black spinnerbait tactic. Black/Red, Black/Blue, all Black all work great. Dark plastics work well too.
