Pontoon Boat Question
#1
I know the boat show is coming up and I would liek a bit of info on pontoon boats. Prices, how are they traveling to the lake in a small car, how do you inflate pontoons, and extras you can add on them. Any info is appreciated!

sprotsman warehouse has a new brand called fishcat. it is a less expensive off shoot

of the outcast brand. it is 8 ft. long and 5 ft. wide withe double pontoons on each

side..they inflate with a simple hand pump...if you have more limited space to

carry to your fishing spot, try a v-tube float tube. you still sit on top of the water

with just your lower legs in the water....if you go to sportsman warehouse look up

dick windrich..he knows everything about pontoons and fishing.....the fishcat brand

will cost you about $600 dollars....................................good luck

Offers a range of float tubes and pontoons. I own a 6' inflatable pontoon and got it through Sportmart for $200!!

The normal price is $400. If you have to hike in aways I would not recommend these. There alittle heavy. But if only a short distance by all means.

Light enough to go on top of a car and fits in most truck beds. I love mine. Just took it to SARL in Anaheim, CA Sunday and limited on rainbow trout.

Inflates really quick and deflates even quicker.

This one cost $300 at sportmart.com. Also you do not sit in water at all. Seat swivels too so you can sit sideways.( some models )

Water Skeeter also offers alot of different things to add.

Storage rack( can hold battery and tackle box ), fish holders, drink holders, motor mount, anchor mount and more.

Great investment[Wink]

I just got that Trout Unlimited Madison pontoon at sportsman's for $220 last week. I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but it seems sturdy enough.

They are made very well. I take mine on saltwater all the time. Even went crashing through waves at Cherry Beach in California![shocked]

There pretty tuff. Just watch the inflation. The sun really makes the pressure seem like it is going up and down.

I usually leave mine alittle under inflated then set it on water for a couple minutes. Then inflate it. Works for me.

[cool][blue]Those are the Santa Ana River Lakes...manmade for fishing and recreation. Hefty fee for day use, but they plant trout over 20 pounds in them. [/blue]

[#0000ff]Go to the California board of BFT. They have regular reports and updates on those lakes.[/#0000ff]

i own an 8 footer from sportsmans and i love it. the best accessory that i have for it is the wheel that goes on the back of it so you can push or pull it. really nice. i made my own, the one at sportsmans was 80 dollars. it cost me to make it 14 dollars.

That worked fine. I'm sure that makes it much easier kto move to toon around until you're ready to hit the water.

When I egt my toon I'll have to rig up something like that. I can't see $80 for something that simple.

Thanks

it makes it so easy to get it to the water. i used it at rockport last fall by the dam. went right down the hill and into the water. it's set up so that you can leave it on and the pt boat goes in the water no problems. when you get your pt boat give me a jingle and we will see what i can do for you. my e-mail address is TREESTANDRED@MSN.COM

the only thing that cost me money was the wheel and i got it at home depot for 14 bucks.

hook um in the jaw.

Thanks I'll keep that in mind. Do you use a trolling motor? I was thinking about getting on of those too how long a shaft to you need to mount on a toon?

i don't use a trolling motor so i couldn't tell you about that. if you use a motor you have to license you pontoon as a boat. bad deal i think.
