Wander suggestions?
#1
I have a float tube fisherman for five years now. All waders seem to fail when it comes to the crotch construction. I have tried neoprene, breathe able types. The stitching doesn't seem to be failing, but they all start to leak in the crotch in only a year or two of use. I tried the high end breathables from Cabela's. Do I have to bite the bullet and get some Simms or similar high end waders to rid this problem?

I agree that that is a trouble area. I've had similar problems in the past, let alone findustry a pair that is not out of control expensive and still comfortable. I have been really happy with my current pair and I put them through a lot of use and work. I tried on a lot of pairs and brands and these have been awesome. Have a few friends that use them too. Give em a look.

I suppose I haven't put enough wear on any of my waders (all types) to find weakness and none have leaked, but I can imagine the crouch will be vulnerable to wear from the inside since toughness is mainly on the outside of the fabric and wear would be significant if worn over pants. But, I wear soft thermal underwear under waders. Besides, that's more comfortable. Do you wear waders over jeans? Could soft undergarments be the solution to inside wear?

While on the subject of waders, my favorite is camouflage, breathable, stocking foot waders I bought about 10 years ago at Cabela's that I also use for wet conditions hunting and camping, so the camouflage is important. I've never found that combination since. The boot waders are too bulky and heavy to roll up and put into a pocket in my backpack, but stocking foot waders are very compact and lightweight. Where can I buy more in camouflage?

I usually will wear something soft under the waders. Not usually Jean material.

I hope my waders don't have a weak spot there. I have many, so all of the wear isn't just on one and they all seem good as new. I need to fish more!

Could wearing out in the crouch first be due to fit? I wear mine with the suspenders adjusted to pull it up high because it's easier to walk and I walk fast and cover a lot of shore when shore fishing. Perhaps it's harder on the fabric wearing them lower. Are you tall? You can buy waders for tall people.
