Heavy river flow = No fish?
#1
Hello. I live in Mapleton, and love fishing Hobble Creek near my house. Lots of 12" Brown Trout, and few a little bigger.

The water has been really high and FAST the last couple weeks. Like a white water river. I'm guessing just from spring runoff.

It has since slowed down - almost back to normal - but the fishing stinks. Almost like the fish are gone.

My question is.... What happens to the trout when that happens? Do they get washed downstream, or do they hunker down and wait it out?

Thanks,
Nate

I don't think many get washed down very far. As long as the stream has natural meanders and rocks and logs to hide behind they will find good holding water and just sit there until the flows return to more normal. Your fish should be where you're use to soon. Fish truck will probably by around soon too.
