I made a trip out to Joes Valley today. I was on the water about 8 am and quickly found the splake. They hit a Berkley nightcrawler trolled behind a dodger ~1.5 mph, down 30 feet. For about an hour fishing was fast, it was tough to get two poles out at the same time.
After about 9:30 it just died and I only picked up one more splake all day. The rest of the day I caught a couple rainbows, a couple cutthroat, and I believe a brown. I stayed until about 12:30.
It was my first trip there and I'd say it went pretty well (except I wish I had musky tackle with me).
