Strawberry crawfish
#1
I'm looking at going up to Strawberry over 4th of July weekend where are the best places or hot spots to go crawfish fishing. I'll have my daughters with me they have never been. I have a mino trap that I used years ago but haven't been for years. Pm me

Thanks

I target any rocky bay or cove in 3-8 feet of water. Fatty chicken thighs and about a 60 minute work great.

My wife and daughter caught a bunch of crawdads at the dock next to the boat ramp. There where a number of people there using chicken legs tide to a string you just lower them down and the crayfish climb on and you pull them up and scoop them with a long handled net.

Chicken leg tied to a string is definitely the ticket. The trick though, is to have your net in the water before you pull the leg in. Pull it up and just over the net, then scoop up before the first crawfish touches the net and spooks all the others. The further you get from rocky bays or docks the bigger the bugs get, but there are less of them.

Check out the Solider Creek Dam day use area. Always had success there. Lots of rocky shore line.
