shorefishing with kids
#1
Alot of people at my office are transplants from other states ( me included ) and i seem to get asked this question alot ........where should i take my kids shore fishing? i dont really know the answer to this because i am usually out in my boat when im fishing, other than the occasional fly fishing on the provo, carping on the Jordan or hiking in the mountains ( usually in the cottonwoods).... not looking for a secret spot or anything, just somewhere local that might keep the kids entertained. back in the midwest i knew countless blue gil ponds i would refer them to but Utah is a different animal. any recommendations would be welcomed. Our office is in South Jordan but anywhere in the valley would be great . thanks in advance. pms are cool too, i know there are trolls out there.

Community ponds are constantly stoked and provide good fishing for kids. Most any lake has decent fishing from shore if you are in the right location. Just let me know which lake they want to go to and I will try to put the young ones on some fish. [fishon]

Jensen pond (Syracuse) last night would be great for the kids. Tie on a tiny hook, tiny piece of worm, dangle right in front of you. Caught countless bluegill/perch. Had bites on catfish pole but too busy unhooking fish to get em

If you are willing to go for a little drive the Uintas are awesome with kids. There are dozens of lakes that you can drive right to or there are literally hundreds of lakes within a short day hike distance. Many of these small lakes are fast fishing for book trout and other species
