Bristol Bay General District Management Plan
#1
The Board of Fisheries will consider Proposal “C,” the General District Management Plan, during the February 2004 meeting.

Proposal C expresses the intent of the board to give the department guidelines for conducting a fishery in an additional area of Bristol Bay to respond to an unusually high forecasted sockeye run returning to Bristol Bay in 2004. This management option will provide fishers and processors the greatest opportunity to maximize the size and quality of the harvest.

The board will take both written and oral testimony on proposal C. Oral testimony begins Sunday, February 15 and will continue through Monday, February 16. The board will not schedule proposal C for committee work during the February meeting. The board anticipates it will deliberate on proposal C on Thursday, February 26. This may change depending upon the progress of the meeting. A recorded message is available for daily progression of the meeting: 1-800-764-8901.
