The fishing Solunar calendar said 'not too good' for this day, but I think DuBob and I did alright for ourselves...on water abt 0745, waters pretty calm most of day...no one else at ramp at 0700 when we got there, then only a few others seen after that, and only 2 ski boats seen all day! Nice to be able to fish during the week...Bob's "Secret Spots" (where everyone else fishes) worked pretty good for us, and we trolled up 4 'good kitties', 1 larger wiper, 1 crappie, and 4 nice walleyes, using downriggers and side planers...my first catfish and crappie trolling, so I guess I got my Willard '4 slammer': catfish, crappie, walleye, and wiper...fun day... very slow from about 10:30 to 12:30, (when wind stopped completely) otherwise the bite was 'pretty good', not 'not too good' as the calendar said...catfish fry tonight... Guluk...

Sounds like a good day at willard. Glad you enjoyed yourself. I made jerky out of the last wipers and catfish from willard. Very good eating[cool]

Okay, you got me -- I've never heard of catfish or wiper jerky, but it sounds interesting...are you just smoking the heck out of 'em, or actually doing a jerky recipe??

Jmorfish, I thought that was DuBob's boat out on the west side. I didn't get to the south marina until 9, but your truck was still the only one in the parking lot. I left by noon, but managed to find three wipers and a small walleye.

This gives me hope, glad to hear it is getting quieter on the water, should be all but dead after next week when every school is in session. Planning to get up there the Tuesday after Labor Day and catch a few, my wife has never tried walleye or wiper and may never want trout again if she does.

Sounds like a great day on Willard but don't expect those good days to happen on every trip Joe. Bob and I got out there yesterday and the results were quite different, no eyes but we did pick up two wipers a three cats. Bob was going to stop by the Park mangers office to ask about the cleaning station at the south end, as we were leaving, hopefully he will have some good news[:/] but the cleaning station on the North end appears to be broken now.[crazy]

We had a 10 fish day that day and took home 2 cats and 2 eyes each. Let the wiper and crappie go. Here's a picture of the 4 I took home for dinner.[/#800000][/font]

I couldn't agree more on the walleye/trout dining...trout is about all I had here in Utah also (but grew up in Wis. on perch, walleye, 'gills, crappie) so when I discovered the perch here about 10 years ago, kokanee about 6 years ago, and walleye (finally) last Spring --- well, I'll just say I have people that are grateful for the rainbows that I bring them....and they aren't bad, it's just that some other species are so much better table fare, IMO......and Catfish..... if anyone's family members haven't tried catfish, they are Very Mild, no fishy taste...that's probably why Southern recipies call for hot spices with it....Guluk...

I know what you're saying about ' not all will be good days'...Most of the time it's when I'm piloting my boat, and my guest/passenger's side is hot, and I'm just sitting there, watching my poles, changing lures, steering the boat....wondering what I'm doing wrong...so I feel very fortunate, and very good, when I get to be a guest/passenger once in awhile, and actually catch fish, in someone elses's boat! ( thanks to those I've ridden with, I am grateful) ... and I'm still giving rides.. I can take it ... I have a good shrink...PM sent...
