Quiet day on Huntington North
#1
The kids are back in school so the pleasure boaters are gone until this weekend so I ventured out in the tube. I hit the lake at 6:30 and fished until 2:30 using my usual fly gear. I came after a wiper or two but none of them wanted to cooperate. I ended up with one nice rainbow and some nice bluegill and green sunfish. There is some hybridization that takes place and I'm not the best at identifying them anyway so if I've labeled them wrong, forgive me. I also picked up six large chubs that are now bird food. There was some surface feeding in the morning with mayflies and midges on the water. The water temperature was 65-70 degrees and the visibility in the water was great at about 9'. The reservoir level is down to 69% full and dropping about two feet/week.
It wasn't the kind of day I was hoping for but it's been awhile since I have caught any nice panfish so that part was fun.

Nice report on that pond, I am planning to hit it hard after this weekends last big hurrah.

Haven't posted in a long while due to practicing with my bow for the up coming hunt.
Got skunked on that deal, So now back to the fish.
I really like that little lake when the place calms down.

Hope to run into you out there or on other local waters, I mostly take my Porta Bote
with an electric motor or oars, I have a 6hp 4 stroke for it but it is a heavy bugger alone.

I will be alone as my friends got lazy nowadays, The little boat say's PondScum on the side.

Stop and say hello if you see me around, I will do the same.

Take care Ken

Thanks, Ken.

I'll watch for you and "Pondscum" on the water.

I'm in a blue Fish Cat although it's more gray now because of all the use.

Hi Tom,
The sunfish in your two photos are both bluegills. The larger one looks like a fairly nice size 'gill.

Thanks for the help identifying the fish, Mike.

I don't catch enough of them to keep them straight.[:/]

They put up as good a fight as the rainbow did.[Wink]
