Species quest!
#1
A buddy and I will be coming from Idaho chasing any new species to us that we can't get here over Labor Day weekend, and looking to chase wiper at Willard bay, white bass at Utah, and possibly pike and tiger musky at Pineview, and green sunfish wherever, possibly local pond somewhere. Any other species we should be chasing? I'm bringing a willy's jet sled (camo) to Willard bay Friday night till we catch some wiper then probably moving on. Please say hi! Maybe offer a little help if we are struggling to catch. Are shad catchable? I know you can't keep... Also we'll be bringing the fly rods, so we're willing to leave boat behind at a buddies house to hit the mountains. Also looking for tiger trout, grayling, goldens, even suckers. Anything I can't catch or haven't caught in Idaho. Any help would be great!

I never said it before, but a few years ago I did this, and a member took me out on his canoe at Willard and we fished 8 hours for a single wiper, but he was cool enough to take a stranger out and helped me hook my first wiper, and I just wanted to say thank you! And by the way, to that guy, I'm now up to 58 species!

Pineview only has tiger muskie. Would need to go to Yuba to try to catch a northern pike.

With the closures at several Utah lakes due to algae you should expect to see more boats on other waters, there are several active threads on here about the issue to read up on.

Like Kent said the pike here are in yuba, Muskie's are in pinview, and if your after grayling I would try smith and Morehouse. I'm not sure if they have closed the gates at the habors at utah lake or just the boat ramps but either way I would go to Lindon boat harbor because it is privately owned and not a state harbor so it should be open. And bright curly tailed jigs and spiners should help you catch a few white bass, bluegills, and crappie. Good luck and post us a couple pictures of your trip. Jon

So far we've been doing pretty good! Hit Willard sat morning and fished 10-5 and caught 4 wiper, 2 channel. Wiper hit on fake shad trolling and mostly on swim baits yellow and white. We threw random stuff at em till they hit but caught the largest in my ultra light!

At Pineview today and before the boats and wind water was nice but this afternoon wind and wakeboard are killing it. Heard a few reports of tiger caught on somebody's bass rig and lost a 3 footer at the boat. Also another was pulled in from shore. We've only managed a black bullhead so far on a crank bait, but it was a new species for my buddy, so tiger or not, he's happy today.

Pics and hopefully a good report to come!
