Going back to Willard in the morning , just can't stay away . I'm getting pretty comfortable with the the way it's been lately but, I'm sure that's a mistake . this will be 9th trip this summer and every time i find the fish in different areas ,small crank baits have worked good all summer but that's bound to change soon. Probably going to try bottom bouncing more tomorrow and some plastics just to see what els will work . I have a 2nd battery and will be able to use my trolling motor for a longer time . I'll start out at the north marina at 6:00am and have know idea what direction I'll go from there, hopefully I can find them quickly .

Hey - good luck out there...you'll be in the dark for awhile if you're there at 0600, but maybe that's best for the walleyes...I'll be out there sometime this week also, so hope you can give us a good report...Guluk...

Report isn't that great . Started out of north marina at about 6:30 and headed south to see if I could find fish at freeway bay . Started trolling right out of the marina with my favorites and got a big hit right away . That fish took a long hard run and pulled the hook . After checking the gear everything was in order so it was just one of those things . Didn't see anything great around freeway so headed to north dike where I started marking right away got a couple more bites but they were short and didn't stay on long . I started holding one rod and the next bite let it back and got this one , he swallowed the bait . Turned around and picked up another wiper in that area . I was marking a lot of fish but I noticed they were suspended more than what I've seen , I decided to work that area and different parts of water colum . Didn't get a bite after that , tried everything but no bites . So ended up with two wipers for the day
There was a red boat out there being a real jerk came within 50 feet of a guy that was fishing he was not happy needless to say . I was trolling up on a guy that was anchored, was passing between him and the dike I gave him as much room as I could and here comes the red boat right between us . Boat ramp was a mess getting in and out . I have Monday's off and new it would be like this , still wanted to go fishing

What kind of boat were you in? We fished the North dike yesterday as well. We were in a black and silver 21ft Thunder Jet and came up to some guys and kids anchored out from the North dike, looked like they were bait fishing. Was that you?

The red boat guy probably hadn't accumulated his jerkitis quota for the summer and was trying to catch up on the last day.
The usual comment about taking a photo and turning them in applies here. That's not being a jerk yourself, because behavior like that is dangerous. What if you had a swimmer in the water?

Guess you got the power squadron at the north end yesterday. Only saw one or two down near the feed lot where I was, and they all stayed well out away from me this time. I wonder if the new twin 60 MG mount on the bow of Tin Can had anything to do with it......[sly]
I did see the mass confusion at the north ramp when I went there to use the cleaning station yesterday about 2:30.

Sad to say, my report is too much like yours, only we were out on Wed. a.m. for about 5 hours of trolling...put in at the So. Marina, nothing doing East or West of there, crossed towards the North run and the Lite Pole, and I finally got a real hit 1/4 mile from the lite pole...my only hook-up today...first thought I snagged bottom with my bottom-bouncer crawler harness, but then it moved...it stayed on the bottom, mostly doing what it wanted: staying on the bottom, and tearing line when it wanted...figured it was a large catfish, or huge carp....after 10 minutes of a great give - and -take fight, I was able to s l o w l y pull it to the top, and when my partner got the net under it, that was the first I saw it was one of those larger cats; 21" and 3 lbs...we were optimistic again, but then that was it...my friend had 1 hit and miss, and I had 1 hit where it just bit off the tail of a crawler....even the cat was barely hooked, so it was a very lite bite at best today, at least for us....we tried just about everything: bottom bouncing w/ crawler harness, crank baits on side planers, slow death rig with and without bottom bouncer, faster speed and slower speed.....the bite just wasn't there...one of those days....

Jmorfish, thanks for that info . Sorry your day wasn't any better than mine . All summer only had a couple get off on crank baits and then miss twice as many in one day . Clearly in a different mood with the cooler weather . It doesn't look like I'll make it out this Monday probably will be next week and bye then I'll need a different approach fore sure.
