Well I made a couple trips this week and this is what I learned so far. Took the Smitty today to take my tent (which I wasn't smart enough to set up in the cold wind). Anyway the wind and rain froze a very rough texture on the ice at Mantua and I didn't counter sink the bolt heads on the bottom of the skis so talk about a hard pulling beast. It nearly did me in trying to pull that out and back. So I need to fix that or just use it on snow. It works great on snow. New nils on the DeWalt 20 V drill I'm giving an A+ Guy at Sportsman talked me into some tungsten jigs. He gets an A+, as well. Wax worms A+. Inline reels both working great! Spring bobbers get a mixed grade, I love the ones that have the coil spring, but it was Soooo cold they kept freezing up on me today and my line kept forming ice globs at the waters surface. Good thing the fish were patient while I cleared the ice so I didn't lose them. Sonar phone fish finder worked really well again today but it sucks a lot of phone battery so I take an extra phone battery pack that lets everything work great!! Fish were all caught 6" off bottom even the bows. Ice fishing was really fun even though it was slow. We had a BFT circled wagon there today and it was nice to visit sorry I probably talked too much and scared the fish away. Anyway I guess I forgot anything else I might have learned. Hope some of this will be useful. Later J

You're welcome hope it helps and wasn't just my babbling in overtime. No crappie in Mantua, but it's a pretty good pan fish pond otherwise. That one gill fought really well, I thought it was another trout. Later J

It was fun, and very nice to meet and fish with you. You sure had the hot hand out of our group today. Sorry we didn't get to chat a little more, but we'll do it again. BTW I really like that Ion you had, if a guy had plenty of cash I think that would be the way to go so you didn't have the drill chuck weak link in the system. Anyway till next time. Later J

I got the one from Vexilar, it's called sonar phone so a Google search can put you on it. I got the model that has a regular transducer and the wifi unit on a cable together so I need a battery to run that part of the system as well. This model will do lake contour mapping as well, that's why I got it. You just run the Navionics ap to do that.(which is a little confusing because you have a sonar phone ap that runs the fish finder alone) (Navionics ap will do mapping, GPS and a fish finder in split small screens should get a tablet for the screen) Pretty cool little finder for the price. You get a fish finder with GPS and mapping. I like it now I have a unit without issues. My first one never worked correctly but Vexilar took good care of me and fixed it up for me. One other thing anyone close by with a phone and ap can look at your finder display if you let them. Hope that helps sorry for the novel. J

Oh one more thing about the finder, it is so sensitive you can see my 1/32 oz jig easy, well until they steal your wax worm then it goes intermittent showing up on screen. Just kidding it's not quite that good, but it is as good as my expensive unit for sensitivity. I can see the jig very well and they said it would be slightly delayed in displaying what's happening, but I sure can't tell, I raise the jig and it comes up the same time. So I'm really happy with this unit. Later J

I forgot there were 3 units, mine is the T-box or SP-200 model, but I think the 300 is the same only has the prepackaged carry case. I like to use mine on the float tube as well so I got the one I could modify as needed for the season. J

Awesome, I will have to check it out. That sounds pretty sweet. I don't mind novels, especially when they're full of useful information. Thanks again.

You're welcome I hope it helps. I know I was really curious before I bought and was greatful to the help I got ahead of time. Good luck and I hope you'll like it as much as I do. My one issue now is I need a mount for my phone I get tired of holding it in cold temps. Later J
