Fished Mantua near Brigham City over the holidays ended up with a dozen perch. Stayed between 14-18 feet of water using anything green with glow...plenty of techniques but the one that worked for me was touching bottom then bringing your bait up about 1/2". Many times the perch simply like a little cat and mouse game to entice a strike. The perch have been very finicky since the start of the year I believe due to the moon phase and pressure....we are entering a better week for fishing so get out and enjoy yourselves...

[#0000FF]Yessir. Perch gotta be at the top of the list for good eatin'. But "nothing better"? I can think of at least a couple of things that could compete. All a matter of experience and perspective.
I guess if buffalo can have wings, perch can too.

Seems they're 'finicky' every year, and I think it has more to do with that place getting hammered than any moon phase. Could be wrong though.
Great catch!

[#0000FF]That may be true for larger fish...if you are using a band saw to cut steaks. But I have found it is tough to get good clean fillets from frozen smaller fish. You end up leaving a lot of frozen flesh if the fish cannot flex during the slabbing process. Been there, done that. And I prefer to allow them to defrost in the sink before I apply the blade.
If you are really hardcore...and like sushi...you can just push a stick up their orifice and nibble on your frozen fishcicle. Watch the spines.
