I took some pictures of Hyrum yesterday. It appears to have completely capped, though some spots look awfully thin. I wanted to take some pictures on my way to work this morning, but it's a little too dark at 4:30am. At that time though it was around -5 degrees which can only help the ice situation. I know there are some crazies that will get out there on 2 inches but I personally prefer about 6. if the nighttime temps keep dropping low I'll have my 6 inches in no time. The other pic didn't load. The clear spots were open water on Saturday but skimmed over that night.[inline 20161226_114923.jpg]

Been watching that on the dam cam, but good to know we can now start watching our clock for maybe a weekend trip... Crazy how long it took to cap this year, makes you wonder about ice conditions there... I think I'll be drilling lots of test holes to make sure I don't find one those thin spots... Speaking of thin spots, I have to correct a previous statement about Mantua, when I said I hadn't ever seen a spring out in the lake... I have now after last Friday... 6" everywhere and then open water out in the middle of where everyone goes... so pay attention where you step out there... Later J
