7 of us fished the ice here yesterday without a lot of success, we iced only 7 or 8 fish all day and really didn't mark a lot. We were in 18 fow. The ice was 8 inches thick but quickly lessened to 3 inches as we got closer to the main body of the lake. This was our first time fishing this bay. There still is a pretty big open water spot between here and chicken creek.

Went to Chicken Creek East today, 7 inches of good ice. Only saw one lonely fish cruise under the ice tent. Fished from about 7:30- noon thirty. The folks on either side of us only caught one fish apiece in about 17-18 ft of water (slot limit cuts). We threw everything we had at them, standard fare strawberry tube jigs, ice flies, gitzits, rat finkees, swedish pimples, spoons, all colors tipped with wax worms and regular worms sweetened with smelly jelly... no love. We were initially going to go to Soldier Creek but it looked like open water from the road not too far from that first little bay off Hwy 40. Not sure though but there was a definite line from white (snow on ice) to dark I guess it could have been clear ice with no snow on top that formed after the snow. We didn't want to risk it and no one was fishing on the first bay. Air temperature was a balmy 28 when we arrived and 28 when we left though the wind had picked up and drove everyone off the ice that wasn't in a tent. Beats working...
