Otter update 12/26/16
#1
My soon-to-be-brother-in-law and I made the drive down to Otter Creek on Monday. On Christmas I wrenched my knee skiing and didn't want to be messing with hills or a long pack through slush to the ice. It turned out to be a great choice! Lots of bald eagles, deer and rabbit wildlife along the way. Pulled up to the East side about 9:30. Stepping out of the 4Runner, you could hear the ice signing that fancy wobble type song like we had too many whip-its on the drive down. Walked maybe 30 yards onto the ice and drilled our holes. Ice was about 4", clear and noisy all day. Wouldn't you know I left my flasher home? Kicking myself with my hurt knee didn't seem to be a good idea so we sat and fished. We iced 10 between the 2 of us in about 6 hours so it wasn't fast action, but would come in waves as the fish cruised the shoreline. Lots of different lures worked, but tipping with a piece of shiner upped the odds of a good bite. One of the fish was a dink, the rest healthy fat rainbows about 16" with the last buck coming in at 21"! Great fighting fish and well worth the drive!
