Ice fishing cutler?
#1
I live up north and have been curious about cutler through the ice. Does anyone know if it would be worth fishing? I haven't seen anything on cutler this winter which makes me think it's not that productive. Any ing would be great. Thanks!

It's sort of like Willard only worse because it's so shallow... You can catch some at times, but your return on time invested is not good... Plus you have to be careful of non-uniform ice thicknesses due to under ice currents... Never trust that the ice will be good there without checking it as you go unless you know where the currents flow and you stay off those areas... I've caught a few sunfish, but haven't been able to find any cats, eyes or bass or crappie in three or four attempts... I live right next to it, so I can make an hour trip without giving up a whole day so I try it when I don't have time to go some where decent... If I have the choice to go elsewhere I usually do...Good luck if you try it... Later J

I have tried it at the Newton Marina with no luck. The areas under the bridge and where there was current had unpredictable ice thickness, seemed dangerous to me.

Thank you guys for the info. I think I might pass on Cutler. Just doesn't seem like it's worth it. Plus I don't like the idea of unstable ice underneath me
