I am fairly new to ice fishing and this year is my first time going to echo. I was trying to get there tomorrow morning to catch some perch but am unable to. What I am wondering is how is the fishing in the evening? I read someone saying that the perch bite turned in again about an hour before sunset which hit me thinking that maybe a little fishing towards the end of the day might work. Any experiences or things I need to consider when trying to fish in the evening would be helpful. What should I expect and be prepared for? Thanks.

I've had good luck ice fishing later hours in the day. I'd say just be prepared for the cold.

I've caught plenty of fish of all types up to and well after dark through the ice. Just take some good lighting and be prepared for a rapid temp drop when the sun goes down. Take a buddy and make sure you know your route off the ice well and that it is a safe one. No one is going to see / help you after dark if things go wrong alone. Well worth the stay if you do it right.

I don't think you'll catch many perch after dark. If you're after those I'd try to get there with some daylight left. Night fishing for trout can be good though. Sorry I don't have specific info for Echo, just some of my observations on the species up there
