Ice fishing Flaming Gorge

Link below is to the video that I've recorded.

We arrived at the lake Saturday around 12 pm. We started to see some burbots around 5 pm but not hitting hard. My friend harlin caught one that night. Sunday morning hit the lake by 9 am trying to find some deep area but
couldn't find any lakers so we moved into shallower water about 15-25 ft with only a few rainbows to play until night faul. After the sun was gone we were just waitting for the burbots to come through but most of the
night we'd only see a few come by on our sonar and end up with 4 that night. Monday morning our mission was to find some lake trouts but Buckboard wasn't frozen over so we tried to the deepest spots where they're was ice and only found the deepest area being 67 ft with only a few small marks.

Ice in Firehole, Lost dog, and South Confluence was 14" of clear ice on Saturday and Sunday then Monday moring a scuff of .5-1 inch of snow fell. Buckboard was just barely freezing up. Marine launch area was 2 inches.

Nice report. Have you ever tried for kokanee? If so what's the trick? And where do you find them and how deep? Planning on going to the burbot bash to finally fish the gorge and would love to catch a kokanee. That's all I want in the world is to catch a kokanee. We'll be fishing around manila I guess... we are complete noobs at the gorge. And tips would be great. Thanks.

I truly don't know what was up with the burbots. I'm a nooby when it comes to the gorge for the most part. I've talked to local guy's and they're all saying fishing for burbot is slow. No clue for kokes there.

I just tried many different type of glow plastics tipped with chub or sucker. In 3 days with 2 guy's I think we pulled out about 10 that's it so good luck.

Where do you get the chub or sucker meat? Do you catch them first somewhere?
