Echo Information
#1
Love this site....everyone is always very helpful !!

Thinking of taking my son up this Sunday to Echo but I've never been there before. Can someone tell me the best place to park....hopefully without too much of climb down to the lake. Also are there any fees ?

Looks like a lot of perch are being caught recently.....any suggestions on the best depth / bait.

Appreciate all the help !

You will have to exit the freeway and drive about to the east side. Park just above the boat ramp, and along the highway. You have to walk from that point. Just follow all the foot prints, down to the buildings and on down the boat ramp. Be very careful when getting onto the ice. With all the moisture and warm temps, access without getting wet feet, could be tricky. Read the posts for depth and technique. It sounds like about 30 feet is working well. This snow should have changed things, but the surface has been extremely slick if you don't have cleats or something to give you traction. There is no fee in the winter. Good luck and be careful!

If you take your sled down to the gate and take it through the fence, there is a sharp piece of metal hidden in the snow at that spot in between the fence and the gate. As you drag your sled through, lift up the side that is next to the fence or you'll add to the pile of plastic ribbons that have been shaved off the bottom of others' sleds.
