8' Open Water/Slush Around Edges @ Echo
#1
Good morning all,

My dad and I fished Echo yesterday afternoon and Dubob is correct, a plank is needed if you want to stay dry. About 8' of water, transitioning to slush, transitioning to very thin ice extends out until safe ice so be careful.

The level of the lake appears higher than it was before the warmer temps contributing to the distance between the ice and shore.

Once we were on the ice we found crusted-over slush about five inches thick. Drilling was a challenge with a hand auger.

Lot's of sediment and particulates flowing past the camera...perhaps a result of the recent influx of snow-melt water. The water was murky and stained so adjust your tactics accordingly.

Fishing very slow for us, but still a good time with dad.

Happy Friday all!

Thanks for the info, too bad the catching was so slow. What area of the lake did you fish?
