Hey everybody i'm trying to take my young daughters out on Tuesday but i'm worried about the depth of the slush, it sounds like its getting better from recent posts which is great news. So any info from now till then is greatly appreciated. Also I would love to sled across the ice toward renegade to my favorite spot, I know this is wishful thinking.

I was up yesterday and the slush is unreal, I've never seen it this bad. At least 14" of slush. The fishing was very slow as well. We caught a few, but the bite was slow.

If you don't want to ruin your daughters opinion if ice fishing, you may want to try another lake.

Bassomatic is right and I'm afraid the slush is only going to get worse with the snow in the forecast. I'd shoot for somewhere like Pelican. It's definitely a longer drive but your girls will enjoy the fishing and not get wet and cold.

Rockport seems to be another good option. Haven't been this year yet, but it sounds like the fishing has been good.

Can anyone comment on the slush conditions?

I was up to the berry sat 1/14/17. oh my (beep) the slush is horrible. you can get around it, just don't go down the middle of the boat ramp. Be prepared to get wet feet, if you don't have the right boots it can be miserable. if the snowmobile tracks say frozen it is your best bet. it was unseasonable warm that day, didn't ware gloves all day.
fishing was slow; but of course without transportation to get away from the crowds or a super long walk that's what is going to happen. those who have been wondering if the lake was ATV accessible, don't even think twice. the season is over for us. those with sleds, don't stop right at the transition from the ramp to the lake. having a hand auger would also seem to be a pain. I drilled through 20 inches of snow, then 5 to 6 inches of ice. just about had the gear box on the snow surface before i broke through. lots of work if i was to do it by hand.

pray for an arctic front to come in and drop the temps.
