Noise Filter for Fish Finder - Optimizer - 12-09-2018 Since I am setting up a Minn Kota motor on my Toon and I have heard about the electrical noise problems (transient voltage) affecting the fish finder when using the same 12V battery; I have wondered about the possibility of using a good transient noise suppression filter inline with the fish finder rather than having to add the weight and maintenance of a second dedicated battery for the fish finder. I found a cheap filter that looked like it would do the job, so I just thought I would share the info (have not tried it out yet): Boss Audio B15N - 12 Amp Automotive Noise Suppressor [url "https://www.walmart.com/ip/Boss-Audio-B15N-12-Amp-Automotive-Noise-Suppressor/28875652"]Here is a link to the filter: [signature] Re: [Optimizer] Noise Filter for Fish Finder - RockyRaab - 12-09-2018 I'd try it first. You may have no problem at all. [signature] Re: [Optimizer] Noise Filter for Fish Finder - Tarponjim - 12-09-2018 You shouldn't need it. Most sonars have a noise suppression button/setting too. Route your wires apart. Test first. Having a grounded battery helps. In your situation, the best bet is to try some ferrite rings. Otherwise I'd consider running your sonar off a separate 9aH battery. https://www.humminbird.com/support/faqs/TrollingMotorInterference https://www.crappie.com/crappie/fishing-electronics-and-photography/248165-ferrite-ring/ Hope that helps.
