UTAH LAKE
#7
[cool]Hey, Mister. You didn't follow the instructions. You are supposed to put the fins down inside the tube first...then step into the fins. You need to reread the chapter on "Launching and Beaching".

I absolutely cannot believe all of the fishing shows I have watched over the years where Bill Dunce or some other great fisherman is going to demonstrate float tubing for the first time. They climb in with fins already on...sometimes in knee deep water, they go out in underinflated craft that fold up around them and they lean back and take water down the back of their waders that are too short for float tubing. The most hilarious are the guys that wear those green "Paddle Pushers" made by Fishmaster. They are designed to go forward...on VERY SMALL PONDS. If you try to get them to propel you across anything bigger than the North Marina at Willard, you will succumb to a terminal case of "crotch cramps".

Sorry, I wasn't there to "cheer you on", but very happy you suffered no real damage to yourself or your gear. As with all fun pursuits, there is always the potential for enjoyment turning quickly to disaster. I have witnessed a couple of incidents that turned out badly, and could have been avoided.

As always, have fun, but pay attention to details. Be safe and return to those who care about you.
